About

First off, let me tell you who we’re not: we’re NOT in any shape, form, or fashion supported nor endorsed by Girl Scouts of America.

Who we ARE is a family that loves scouting. Big K started in 2010 when she started Kindergarten, and is now a Brownie. Little K – who just missed the Kindergarten cutoff – started in 2012 as a five-year-old, and is a Daisy. I am a Girl Scout mom, volunteer and alumna – I started as a Brownie scout back in the 80s, and through the Explorers program was actually technically a member of the Boy Scouts in High School. Dad was not a scout (Boy or otherwise), but has logged more nights in a tent than any scout I know, thanks to a camping-loving family growing up.

Before the girls were eligible for Girl Scouts, we began with the Junior Ranger program offered through the National Parks Service. The girls had so much fun earning badges (well, mainly Big K, with Little K doing more and more as she grew up) that Nana made them their own vests to wear on our National Park adventures. Being motivated to learn and try new experiences, and being excited to show achievements with the patches and pins on a vest…. hmm, sound familiar? We knew the girls would love Girl Scouting!

This site grew out of our family blog when I started “clogging it up” with Girl Scout printables, images and other info. Now I’m trying to keep stuff about what my family is doing with scouting still over there, but have a place to share with other Girl Scout parents, volunteers and leaders.

Shout back! We want to know what you think.
