What We Did to Learn the Girl Scout Law

The troop my girls are in is a multi-level troop with girls that range from 2nd grade Brownies down through both years of Daisies and even two “buds” (little sisters who attend the meetings but are too young to be Girl Scouts).

And they all know the Girl Scout Law by memory.

In fact, no matter when they started scouting, our girls know the Law within just a few meetings. How?

Of course we say the GS Law at every meeting. We do fun things like word searches. But what really makes the GS Law stick in their heads – and quickly! – is this song:

The song uses the exact words from the Girl Scout Law, along with motions that represent each part. The motions help the girls remember each line of the Law, and also helps them – no matter how young – as they learn what the law means and how we use it every day.

How did your troop learn the Girl Scout Law? Share in the comments; I would love to hear!

Shout back! We want to know what you think.
